He has performed at numerous national and regional American Theatre Organ Society conventions and has produced over 30 theatre organ albums.
One of his notable performances includes a rendition of John Williams’ Star Wars Symphonic Suite, which gained immense popularity on YouTube, amassing over 3.3 million views as of June 2024!
How Jelani started
He was born in Muncie, Indiana, and was exposed to music early, thanks to his musically talented mother and grandmother. Jelani began taking piano lessons at the age of four, and it was during his youth that he discovered his love for the theatre pipe organ.
At 13, he made history by becoming the youngest winner of the American Theatre Organ Society’s Young Theatre Organist Competition.
Since those early days, he has traveled worldwide, sharing his talent and love of music with theatre organ enthusiasts.
Beyond the theatre organ
Besides music, Jelani focuses on the law. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Indiana University and went on to earn a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. Currently, he is practicing law in Wisconsin; in the past, he also practiced in New York.
Apart from his performing career, Jelani travels and teaches other musicians the art of the theatre organ.
